Cape Chamonix Pinot Noir Reserve 2014

The Chamonix Pinot Noir Reserve shows a ruby red colour with notes of cherry, wild red berries, crushed black pepper, cinnamon and violets on the nose. Although firm in structure and intense in flavour, textures are mellow and round, expanding with time to extraordinary opulence and length on the palate.

    About the Winery

Steeped in history and boasting some of the highest planted vineyards in the Cape, Chamonix is set amongst 300 hectares of pristine natural beauty on the Eastern slopes of the Franschhoek Mountains with around 50 hectares under vine.

Cape Chamonix Wine Farm once formed part of the historic Huguenot Estate, La Cotte, which dates back to 1688. Today, Chamonix is known for its wonderful setting and abundant facilities, as well as award-winning wines and spirits, and pure Spring Water.

As purists, they have always believed that to produce a wine of true character, it is essential that nature be the primary wine-maker. Their farm is blessed with cool breezes during the hot summer months and stony, clay-rich soil, giving their wines a unique personality and style. A philosophy of minimal intervention and environmentally conscious farming methods are just some of their secret ingredients.

The wine is matured for 15-16 months in French Allier barriques with approximately 60% new oak.
