    Buitenverwachting Sauvignon

The wine has a pale lemon-yellow colour and a bouquet reminiscent of green figs with hints of gooseberries and an intrusion of green peppers. The wine is dry, full-bodied and has a long lingering finish.

    About the Winery

Buitenverwachting was part of the original Constantia Estate founded in 1685 by Simon van der Stel. This beautiful farm, situated on the east-facing slopes of the Constantiaberg, close to Cape Town and only kilometres away from False Bay, is renowned for its elegant wines.

After years of successful wine production this magnificent property had fallen into a state of neglect and disrepair. The Mueller family purchased the farm in 1982 and set about restoring and improving it.

The first harvest of 100 tons of grapes was in 1985 and exceeded all expectations… Buitenverwachting – “Beyond Expectation”.

Son Lars Maack took over the management of the farm in 1991. His focus was and is on transforming Buitenverwachting into a financially viable wine-producing farm with a happy, healthy and efficient staff. He is also enthusiastic about endorsing South African culture and heritage.
