    Managing Director of Wineservice, Nick Hillman, recently enjoyed a trip to the Clos de Gat Winery situated in the foothills of the Judean Mountains, Israel. An ancient “Gat” (Hebrew for winepress), pre-dating the Roman period, is located in the grounds of the modern winery, set in the heart of the Clos de Gat vineyards, which cover an area of 47 acres (19 hectares).The region’s rolling hills and valley have supported grapevine cultivation for thousands of years.

    This was an incredibly insightful trip full of culture and wine education. Nick was lucky enough to sample some of their range, including the Har’el Syrah and Chanson Blanc – absolutely superb wines. He was even treated to a traditional Israeli feast with Eyal from Clos de Gat and Yossi from London’s Palomar restaurant.
