The 2018 harvest of their Provence Rosé started on the 1st of September; one week later than last year. After a wet spring and a brief spell of hale, a calm summer has produced beautiful grapes; known in French viticulture as, “une belle sortie de grapes”. Chateau l’Afrique is the home of Rosé de Sophie; stunning vineyards nestled in the heart of the Cuers Pierrefeu terroir. These vineyards have now been harvested and fermentation is complete. According to Sophie Sumeire, “the 2018 climate was perfect: cold nights and warm days allowed the grapes to achieve optimal ripeness. Juices are already very full, deep, fruity and round, and proving a more citrusy rosé for this vintage.”
Harvesting continues at the family’s remaining Châteaux with the beautiful light of September shining down on the Côtes.
